If you are in Vietnam you will certainly be amazed by the number of motorbikes used as the major mean of transportation. On busy streets of cities like Saigon, Hanoi, up in the mountainous remote areas of Northwest Sapa, Ha Giang, in the central highland, down to the Mekong Delta, motorbikes are found in almost every corner of this S-shaped country.And of course, as a major mean of transportation motorbikes are used for various purposes of life a part from a mean of transportation. People rush to work on bikes, carry behind their kids to school in cities, farmers load on back seats baskets of fruits and vegetable to the markets, a merchant carries behind him cages full of chickens, ducks, fishes sometimes pigs and in front seated his wife, a man carry even all of his family members of five on a bikes to go out on streets during hot summer nights. Motorbike is without a doubt an important necessary part of life for Vietnamese.
Now talking about brands, the Honda without doubt is so popular here that most people especially in Southern parts tend to call all kind of motorbikes and scooters a “Honda”. However, with different periods of history many other brands can be found here. From the French time with Mobylett, Peugeot, American time with Vespa scooters (at the time could cost even a house on the main street) then to USSR time with Misnk of Belarut, Simson from former Eastern Germany, Jawa or Babetta from Czech until current time with various brands mostly from Japan makers like Honda, Suzuki, Yahama and many of unknown brands or imitation from China.
Well, may be it’s enough about motorbikes in Vietnam so you may wonder what is interesting about these stuffs. Simple answer is passion, the passions riding on the roads be it city roads, highways, or unpaved forest roads in areas sometimes without human foot prints. We offer three main cities as departures where you start your motorcycle travel in Vietnam:
- Ho Chi Minh City: also known as ‘Saigon’, the interesting largest city in Vietnam, sits on the west bank of the Saigon River, lies just north of the Mekong Delta, and 1,760 kilometers (1,094 mi) south of Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. This city is often the starting point of motor touring to Cu Chi Tunnels, Tay Ninh Holy See Temples, rural Mekong Delta, Central Highland & Southern coastal cities.
- Hue City: well known as former imperial capital of greatest Dynasty in Vietnam history. It is about 700 km (438 mi.) south of the national capital of Hanoi and about 1100 km (690 mi.) north of Ho Chi Minh. From this city, we may motorbike to near Hoi An ancient town, Marble Mount. of Da Nang city for full-day trips. Long-day trips often lead you to DMZ belonging to Quang Tri province, then famous Phong Nha Cave of Quang Binh Province. Furthermore, from this Central city, we can head northward to Hanoi or southward to Ho Chi Minh City…
- Hanoi: is the capital and second-largest city of Vietnam, The city is located on the right bank of the Red River. Hanoi is located at 1,760 km (1,090 mi) north of Ho Chi Minh City. Hanoi is the main departure for travelers who want to reach all parts of Vietnam Northern, a motorcycle paradise with endless well paved, deserted winding mountain roads and great attractions (waterfalls, hot springs, ethnic hill tribe people, stunning viewpoints)
BEFORE TOURING WITH MOTORCYCLES:
If you already had a temporary Vietnamese license, you can ride the motorbikes to everywhere in Vietnam by yourself.
If you don’t have this license, do not worry because when traveling with us, you yourself will be surely able to ride your motorbike to feel each km of the roads.
